RC Xpress Touring Cars: Not Just a Budget Racer

RC Xpress Touring Cars: Not Just a Budget Racer

Michael Fone |

I’m new to 1:10 touring cars and started racing 4 months ago after rediscovering my old Traxxas 4Tec. After just one race with my 4Tec, I sold it and bought two used cars: an X-ray X4 ‘22 and a T4 ‘21. For the last three months, I’ve been racing both at my local track, Nor-Cal Hobbies. While I’ve been having a blast, one glaring problem has stood out—parts are expensive and not always available from local shops.

After a few costly replacements, I started questioning whether X-ray was the right brand for me. Around the same time, a friend I race with decided to go a different route. He chose the most budget-friendly, competitive car he could find: the Xpress XQ3S. I emphasize competitive because, with his Xpress XQ3S, he not only won two races back-to-back, but he did so against experienced racers driving top-of-the-line touring cars. While I don’t want to take away from his skill as an incredible racer (which he is), this was when I realized that Xpress wasn’t just a budget car—it was a serious contender.

I’m still new to the sport and have a lot to learn, but from what I’ve seen and experienced, I think it’s safe to say that Xpress is a legitimate racing brand. As for me, I’m switching my whole program to Xpress. Only time will tell if it was the right decision, but for now, I’m excited to see how well I can perform with Xpress.
